iDempiere micro - open source headless serverless ERP and CRM microservices compatible with iDempiere
When building a new business system there is a lot of stuff you can reuse. Most of the well-known libraries give you reuse on the technological level: logging, users, access control etc.
We decided to raise the bar a little bit higher and give software developers a possibility to reuse business entities from one of the most advanced open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software software - iDempiere.
Right now we are moving even further with rewriting some parts of iDempiere under a completely new project erpjs. If you are interested in the headless serverless ERP and CRM for the cloud, check the erpjs GitHub page.
What is iDempiere micro
iDempiere micro is an open source project to build headless serverless ERP and CRM microservices to be used by custom frontend applications like e-shops, specialized vertical applications, IoT appliances etc.
When you can use iDempiere micro
There are numerous and different use-cases for iDempiere micro e.g.
More complex backend for an e-shop
You are running an e-shop on a platform e.g. WooCommerce on WordPress. The e-shop works very well, but the processes to fulfill the orders are more complex and need to be done off the e-shop platform (in Excel for example). Adding a full-featured backend to the existing frontend solution will provide both the e-shop customers and the back office users with the required information.
Accounting capability for an ERP
You have an existing custom ERP system for your vertical e.g. financial, utilities etc. The system exports data to the accounting. You want to add more precise and reliable accounting information to the custom ERP.
Basic entities for a new system
You are developing a brand new system. You do not want to reinvent the wheel and want to use a battle-tested libraries.
